Eastern Cougar: The Eastern Cougar is a wonderful large animal in the cat family. This cougar also has many names that have been picked up over the years in North America. The cougar has gained the status of provincially endangered. The greatest threats to the Eastern Cougar are human disturbance to it's habitat or a disturbance to them directly. Many people also like to take them for their skins and furs. This cougar was first endangered when they were feared. Northern Spotted Owl: The Northern Spotted Owl is an owl that is critically endangered.  There are only 3000 pairs in the wild now. They are only 6 in the province of British Columbia, Canada. The spotted owl was hated once because they were the reason that millions of jobs were lost because a large number of forests that were not allowed to be cut down because of the owl's status. on many car bumpers, there were signs that said things like:  kill a spotted owl - save a logger, or,  I like spotted owls - fried! There has been a lot of controversy over this owl. Many people have proven that another reason that the spotted owl is endangered is because of the invasion of the barred owls. Many federal biologists have started to consider killing of the barred owl to raise the amount of habitat of the spotted owl. Many animal rights groups have been very unhappy about that so there has been a lot of debate about this owl.

Vancouver Island Marmot:  The Marmot is another critically endangered animal, There were only 300 marmots left in the wild in the mid 80s, and now, there are less than 25.
